Project 2: Participation on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Hydrogen Standards Technical Committee
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is now examining the need for amendments that better reflect new hydrogen applications. The Model Codes are deliberative bodies not apt to quick decision-making. Even once the Model Codes make decisions, states and municipalities must adopt the amendments that have been produced. The absence of relevant codes and standards is a mixed blessing. Local code enforcement officials need guidance, yet it may be premature to set rules for technologies still under development.
HELP will actively participate in the development of NFPA 2, Hydrogen Technologies Codes.
